Mobile phone recycle schemes

In recent months these seem to have cropped up all over the Internet.

I could not vouch that all the companies out there are legit but I have used Mazuma a number of times to recycle old phones.

The companies are not just looking for working phones either. From what I can gather they break down the handsets to acquire the quartz cells. For a phone to qualify into the ‘working’ category it only has to switch on, even if you can’t see through the monster crack on the screen. I sent an email just to confirm this was the case before agreeing to sell it.

It is always handy to have a backup phone but outside of that you are just collecting dust. Get on the website and see what you can get, I got over £30 for a phone with a shattered screen and most of the casing missing!

Instructions
- Find out your phone’s model number and check out what you can get for it
- Choose your preferred site (the most legitimate one offering the most money)
- Create account with email, contact details and address so they can send out your freepost bag
- Bag up the phone in some bubble wrap and chuck it in the bag (You usually do not need the charger or box etc)
- Wait for the check to arrive (you can check your progress online in the meantime)

So if like me you had a drawer full of old handsets, save yourself some space and earn some quick money.
